I was so excited when Lauren Wright asked me to participate in the book blog tour for her STUNNING new book, “Pretty Handmades – Felt And Fabric Sewing Projects To Warm Your Heart.” What a treat it was to see all of the gorgeous designs in this book!
There are mini quilts, pillows, sewing accessories, hoops, pincushions, wall hangings and so much more – honestly, you just couldn’t go wrong with any of the choices.
And what did I choose to make? The gorgeous “Busy Bee Pincushion!” I loved getting to try my hand at english paper piecing to make some hexies for this project, and I’ve been hoarding some Liberty fabric for more than a year, so this was the perfect way to use some of it.
I made the pincushion just a little bit smaller than the pattern calls for, since space on my work desk is somewhat limited (and is usually a chaotic mess…oops). But the combination of the hexies, wool felt flowers (which were super-simple to make) and an adorable felt bee makes this pincushion a really lovely project!
And for the finishing touch, I finally found a use for one of the (many) vintage buttons I’ve collected over the years.
The book is available for pre-order now:
And how about free stuff?! Lauren will soon be giving away a signed copy of the book via her blog and Instagram, so don’t miss out:
